The first African American player in Major League Baseball was Moses Fleetwood Walker.

Further Explanation:

Moses Fleetwood Walker had risen to prominence during the aftermath of the American Civil War, an era which was called the ‘Renaissance for the African Americans’. He was the first African American professional baseball player and had risen to fame by playing for his college team, the Oberlin College before he joined his university team at the University of Michigan. However, when the African Americans were undertaking this challenge to prove themselves at the forefront of the American society, Walker came to prominence when he got the coveted chance to play for the Toledo Blue Stockings team in the 84’ season of the American Association.

Walker’s journey to becoming the first African American professional baseball player was certainly not easy, as American society had struggled for years with the problems of racism and slavery, and was convinced of the idea of the white supremacy. Walker was considerably open to his heritage, therefore facing severe criticism and was racism. However, Walker could not play for multiple seasons, as he had sustained multiple injuries while playing the games of the ’84 season. However, he continued with his baseball career, and participated in minor baseball leagues, playing for the same team, until his retirement. He undertook several ventures after his retirement, such as investment in several businesses, and tried his mettle in inventions. He also became one of the most prominent voices of Black nationalism, and the rights of the blacks, as equal American citizens.

what did the jewish, mexicans, chinese italian immigrants and have to do with the rise of political machines? Who, what why, etc
snow_lady [41]
To begin with, a political machine is an organization in which an organization gains support via promising rewards to those who keep them in power. It's designed to keep a particular group in power by promising favors. Typically, immigrants who first arrived here were impoverished, so political machines became so successful because they would promise to set immigrants up with homes or jobs or food so long as they had their vote.
So in short:

Who: Organizations whose main goals were getting and keeping power.

What: They essentially bribed immigrants for their votes.

Why: Political Machines did this to stay in power.
