There was a dispute for the presidential elections in 2000 between George W. Bush and Al Gore. The Supreme Court decided that George Bush had won the presidency because of the 25 electoral votes that he obtained in Florida. The Supreme Court in Florida had made a wrong interpretation of the law related to elections and in this way, it would be Florida's votes investigation. Finally, the votes were given to George W. Bush.

George W. Bush obtained 271 votes, one more than Al Gore who was the other candidate. The state of Florida had to implement the use of new voting machines to prevent the use of punch cards.
