Richard Nixon was the 37th president of the United States from 1969 to 1974. He is the only US president in history to have resigned from office. This was due to the Watergate Scandal, which was the release of tapes that involved the Nixon Administration incurring in unethical acts in order to gain political advantage over the Democrats. As a response to an imminent impeachment and removal from office, President Nixon decided to resign.
