\bf \textit{vertex of a vertical parabola, using coefficients} \\\\ y=\stackrel{\stackrel{a}{\downarrow }}{3}x^2\stackrel{\stackrel{b}{\downarrow }}{+5}x\stackrel{\stackrel{c}{\downarrow }}{-2} \qquad \qquad \left(-\cfrac{ b}{2 a}~~~~ ,~~~~ c-\cfrac{ b^2}{4 a}\right)

\bf \left( -\cfrac{5}{2(3)}~~-2-\cfrac{5^2}{4(3)} \right)\implies \left(-\cfrac{5}{6}~~,~~-2-\cfrac{25}{12} \right)\implies \stackrel{\stackrel{axis~\hfill }{coordinate\qquad }}{\left(-\cfrac{5}{6}~~,~~-\cfrac{49}{12} \right)} \\\\[-0.35em] \rule{34em}{0.25pt}\\\\ ~\hfill \stackrel{\textit{axis of symmetry}}{x=-\cfrac{5}{6}}~\hfill

let's notice, that the squared variable is the "x", and therefore this is a vertical parabola whose axis of symmetry is the vertical line equation of the x-coordinate of its vertex.

Jake and his dad are making flags for a scouting project. They are going to make(6,12,18) flags . Each flag takes (2/3,3/4,5/6) o
evablogger [386]

Answer:

The total yards of cloth needed for the flags = 28

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Jake and his dad are making (6,12,18) different types of flags.

Each flag takes (\frac{2}{3},\frac{3}{4},\frac{5}{6}) of a yard of cloth.

To find the total yards of cloth needed in all.

Solution:

Flag A :

Each flag requires = \frac{2}{3} of a yard of cloth

Total number of this flag = 6

Total cloth required for this flag = \frac{2}{3}\times 6 = 4\ yd

Flag B:

Each flag requires = \frac{3}{4} of a yard of cloth

Total number of this flag = 12

Total cloth required for this flag = \frac{3}{4}\times 12 = 9\ yd

Flag C:

Each flag requires = \frac{5}{6} of a yard of cloth

Total number of this flag = 18

Total cloth required for this flag = \frac{5}{6}\times 18 = 15\ yd

Thus, total yards of cloth needed for the flags = 4\ yd+9\ yd+15\ yd =28\ yd

PR and PS are tangent to center Q. Find the measurement of angle Q
iVinArrow [24]
Segment PQ bisects the angle P, which means angle QPR has a measure of 21 degrees (which follows from the fact that triangles PQR and PQS are congruent and PR and PS are tangent to the circle).

This then means angle RQP has measure 90 - 21 = 69 degrees.

Angle Q is twice this, so it has measure 138 degrees.

8. The percentage of salt in each mixture is 0.35%.
To find out the latter part of the problem, we can use algebra:
14 (grams of salt) = 0.35m (0.35% of the mixture)
14 ÷ 0.35 = 0.35m ÷ 0.35 (we want to find just m, so we have to divide it by 0.35)
40 = m. The scientist made 40 g of mixture!

9. We just divide 32.5 pounds by 0.25 ( a quarter).
32.5 ÷ 0.25 = 130 kids!

10. Her original distance is 0.5 miles. But! She walked back 0.25 (quarter) mile so now this adds a quarter of a mile of distance from her house to her school.
0.5 × 3 = 1.5 + 0.25 = 1.75 miles from her house to her school.
