A geometric progression is a sequence of numbers in which each value (after the first) is obtained by multiplying the previous v

alue in the sequence by a fixed value called the common ratio. for example the sequence 3, 12, 48, 192, ... is a geometric progression in which the common ratio is 4. given the positive integer ratio greater than 1, and the non-negative integer n, create a list consisting of the geometric progression of numbers between (and including) 1 and n with a common ratio of ratio. for example, if ratio is 2 and n is 8, the list would be [1, 2, 4, 8]. associate the list with the variable geom_prog.

The geometric progression with common ratio as 'r', first term as 'a' and nth term as 'n' is a,ar,ar^{2}, ar^{3},.....ar^{n-1}.

Let the common ratio(r) be 3 and n be 27.

Let the first term(a) of the sequence = 1

Second term of the sequence= ar= 1 x 3= 3

Third term of the sequence= ar^{2}= 1 x 3^{2}= 9

Fourth term of the sequence= ar^{3}= 1 x 3^{3}= 27

So, the list of numbers with r=3 and n=27 is [1,3,9,27].

Answer:

Both equal sides have a length of 29 cm.

The third inequal side is 9 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

System of Equations

With the data provided in the problem, we can form a system of two equations with two unknowns.

Let's call x to each equal side of the isosceles triangle and y to the other side. One condition states that each equal side is 2 cm more than three times the other side. It can be written as:

x=3y+2

We also know the perimeter of the triangle is 67 cm. Since we have to equal sides to x:

x+x+y=67

2x+y=67

Let's put together both equations:

x=3y+2

2x+y=67

To solve the system, we can use the x from the first equation and replace it into the second equation:

2(3y+2)+y=67

Operating:

6y+4+y=67

Joining like terms:

7y=67-4=63

Solving for y:

y=63/7=9

The third inequal side is 9 cm. Now find the value of x.

x=3y+2=3(9)+2=27+2=29

Both equal sides have a length of 29 cm.

What is the property that justifies the illustrated step in solving the equation?
andrew11 [14]
Commutative property of addition is being used.

This means that you can switch around where the numbers are and still get the same answer.

Hope this helps!
