Given: Points A,B,C are co-linear on line segment AC , and

AB : BC = m : n= 3 : 4.

Coordinates of A = (x,y) ,

Coordinates of B = (x₁, y₁) = (4,1) , and

Coordinates of C = (x₂, y₂ ) = (12,5).

To find: the values of x and y

Now, we shall apply intersection (internally) formula for point B,

x₁ = (mx₂ + nx ) ÷ (m + n)

4 = (3×12 + 4× x ) ÷ (3 +4)

or,       x = - 2  and,

y₁ = (my₂ + ny ) ÷ (m + n)

1 = (3×5 + 4× y ) ÷ (3 +4)

or,       y = - 2

Hence, the required point A (x, y) will be (-2, -2)

A school chorus has 90 sixth-grade students and 75 seventh-grade students. The music director wants to make groups of performers
Vera_Pavlovna [14]

Answer:

a) 15 is the largest number of groups that can be made.

b) There would 6 sixth grade students and 5 seventh grade students in each group.

Step-by-step explanation:

Number of sixth-grade students = 90

Number of seventh-grade students = 75

a) What is the largest number of groups that could be formed?

Since the music director wants to make groups with the same combination of sixth and seventh grade students in each group,

The greatest common factor (GCF) of the number of sixth and seventh grade students would give us the required combination.

Factor of 90 = 2*45 = 2*3*15 = 2*3*3*5

Factor of 75 = 3*25 = 3*5*5

The greatest common factors are 3 and 5

GCF = 3*5 = 15

Therefore, 15 is the largest number of groups that can be made.

b. If that many groups are formed, how many students of each grade level would be in each group?

Sixth grade = 90/15 = 6

Seventh grade = 75/15 = 5

Therefore, there would 6 sixth grade students and 5 seventh grade students in each group.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ASAP!?? I RLLY NEED THIS
Sindrei [870]

Answer:

109 degrees

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we can see that the line on the top, the one across the yellow box, is the main one, and that one measures 180*, so that means that we have to just subtract 180 by 71, and that will be our answer!

180-71 =109

So, the angle of the missing angle is 109 degrees.

Another proof that this is your answer is that 109 degrees is obtuse, and we can easily say that the angle here is also obtuse.

What is the difference between a rate that is compounded annually and a rate that is compounded semiannually
8090 [49]

Answer:

the rate compounded semi-annually is compounded twice in a year. thus, this rate is higher than the rate compounded annually which is compounded once in a year

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for calculating future value:

FV = P (1 + r/m)^mn

FV = Future value

P = Present value

R = interest rate

N = number of years

m = number of compounding

For example, there are two banks

Bank A offers 10% rate with semi-annual compounding

Bank B offers 10% rate with annual compounding.

If you deposit $100, the amount you would have after 2 years in each bank is

A = 100x (1 + 0.1/2)^4 = 121.55

B = 100 x (1 + 0.1)^2 = 121

The interest in bank a is 0.55 higher than that in bank B

Some of the children at a school arrive by car.
scZoUnD [109]

Answer:

  • 74%

Explanation:

You can build a two-way relative frequency table to represent the data:

These are the columns and rows:

               Car         No car      Total

Boys

Girl

Total

Fill the table

  • 30% of the children at the school are boys

             Car         No car      Total

Boys                                       30%

Girl

Total

  • 60% of the boys at the school arrive by car

That is 60% of 30% = 0.6 × 30% = 18%

             Car         No car      Total

Boys      18%                         30%

Girls

Total

By difference you can fill the cell of Boy and No car: 30% - 18% = 12%

             Car         No car      Total

Boy       18%           12%         30%

Girl

Total

Also, you know that the grand total is 100%

             Car         No car      Total

Boy       18%           12%         30%

Girl

Total                                     100%

By difference you fill the total of Girls: 100% - 30% = 70%

             Car         No car      Total

Boy       18%           12%         30%

Girl                                         70%

Total                                     100%

  • 80% of the girls at the school arrive by car

That is 80% of  70% = 0.8 × 70% = 56%

             Car         No car      Total

Boy       18%           12%         30%

Girl       56%                         70%

Total                                     100%

Now you can finish filling in the whole table calculating the differences:

             Car         No car      Total

Boy       18%           12%         30%

Girl        56%         14%         70%

Total     74%          26%      100%

Having the table completed you can find any relevant probability.

The probability that a child chosen at random from the school arrives by car is the total of the column Car: 74%.

That is because that column represents the percent of boys and girls that that arrive by car: 18% of the boys, 56% of the girls, and 74% of all the the children.

iris [78.8K]

Answer:

There are 25 students in the class.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we know the percentage of students who want an ice cream party is 20%, and 5 students want an ice cream party, we know that:

\frac{5}{S}=0.2

, where S is the total amount of students. We can then solve for S:

\frac{5}{S}=0.2 Given equation

5=0.2*S Multiply by S

25=S Divide by 0.2

Therefore, there are 25 students in the class.
