1cm=10mm

to convert cm to mm you have to multiply the number by 10

to convert mm to cm you have to divide the number by 10

in this question we have to convert mm to cm so, we have to divide 84 by 10,

84mm2÷10=8.4cm2

answer=8.4cm2
hope this helps......

Answer: 8.4.
Here is a trick to know how to solve stuff like this:
K H D M D C M<--------(You could also remember it by "Kangaroos Hopping Down Mountains Drinking Chocolate Milk).

Here's what they stand for:
Kilo  Hecta   Deca   Meters, Liters, or Grams   Deci    Centi    Milli

Now, you do this:
K H D M D C M
                     84
You put 84 under "Milli", since it's 84 millimeters . Now, you go to da LEFT, and you move da decimal to da LEFT. (Every whole umber automatically gets a decimal at da end of it. Example: 72 is da same as 72.) (Decimal is at da end of 72). So now, 84 is under centi, (in this case, centimeters), and you move da decimal ONCE, since you moved from milli to centi ONCE. Now it would be 8.4. Since da problem only asked for centimeters, YOU'RE DONE! :-).

A 15-ft by 15-ft rectangular swimming pool is surrounded by a walkway of uniform width. If the total area of the walkway is 13
andrezito [222]

Answer:

2ft wide

Step-by-step explanation:

Total Area = Area of the summing pool +  total Area of the walkway.

Area of the summing pool = 15 × 15 = 225ft²

And total area of walkway = 136ft²

∴ total area = 225 + 136 = 361 ft².

Let w = The width of the walkway.

Since the walkway has a uniform width

∴ Total Area of pool and walkway = (15+2w)(15+2w)

⇒ (15+2w)(15+2w) = 361........................(1)

 Expanding Equation(1)

 15×15 + 15×2w + 2w×15 + 2w×2w = 361

 ⇒ 225 + 30w + 30w + 4w² = 361................(2)

  Rearranging equation(2) above and collecting like terms

   4w²+60w = 361-225

    4w² + 60w = 136..............................(3)

   Dividing all through equation(3) by 4

   4w²/4 + 60w/4 = 136/4

    w² + 15w = 34..............(4)

    rearranging equation(4)

    w²+15w -34 = 0

Using factorization method to solve the quadratic equation,

   w² + 15w - 34 = 0

Two numbers whose sum give +15 and whose product gives -34

are +17 and -2.

∴ w² -2w +17w -34 =0

   grouping the equation,

   (w²-2w) + (17w-34) =0

  Bringing out the common terms in both bracket.

  w(w-2) +17(w-2) =0

 since both term in the bracket are the same, take one of the term in the bracket and form a bracket for the outer term i.e

(w-2)(w+17)=0.

Either w-2 =0

           w=+2

OR    w+17 =0

          w=-17.

The right answer is w=+2 as wide can not be negative.

∴ The walkway is 2ft wide.

MariettaO [177]

Answer:

{84mm}^{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of square= l×l

Area of square= 6mm × 6mn

Area if square = 36 mm²

Area of triangle 1= ½b ×h

Area of triangle 1= ½ (6mm)(8mm)

Area of triangle 1 = 24 mm²

Area of triangle 2 is the same as area of traingle 1 because they have the same base and hight

: . area of triangles is 48mm²

Area of the figure= Area of square + Area of triangles

A of figure = 36+48

A of figure = 84 mm²

Option 2

Use trapezium formula

Area of trapezium= (a+b)/2 * h

a=6 mm (base)

b=8+6=14 mm (Base)

h= 6mm (height)

area \: of \: trapezium = ( \frac{6 + 14}{2} )(6) \\  = 60mm ^{2}

Therefore the area of triangle= 24mm² as calculated in option 1

Area of the figure= Area of trapezium +Area of triangle

Area of figure = 60+24

= 84 mm²
