The two ideas of total war was used because the countries against each other where angry with each other and It was one of the deadliest conflicts in history and precipitated major political change, including the Revolutions of 1917–1923 in many of the nations involved. Unresolved rivalries at the end of the conflict contributed to the start of the Second World War twenty-one years later. They wanted to end conflict. Basically, the Cultural Revolution was that Mao Zedong, the Former Chairman of the Communist Party of China, wanted a classless society. Following this, Mao launched the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution.
