Imagine that millions of years ago, there was a population of fish that could live in shallow water in a region with many shallo
Artemon [7]

Answer:

The mechanism is natural selection.

Explanation:

Natural selection is the mechanism that these air-breathing fishes have gone through to survive. This mechanism allows species to survive and reproduce due to differences in the phenotypes of every individual in the specie, throughout the time the heritable traits that every individual inherits changes according to the environment and the characteristics of its ancestors.

How do substrate concentration and pH affect enzyme-controlled reactions
Dima020 [189]
For example, pH can have an effect of the state of ionization of acidic or basic amino acids. Acidic amino acids have carboxyl functional groups in their side chains. Basic amino acids have amine functional groups in their side chains. If the state of ionization of amino acids in a protein is altered then the ionic bonds that help to determine the 3-D shape of the protein can be altered. This can lead to altered protein recognition or an enzyme might become inactive.

Changes in pH may not only affect the shape of an enzyme but it may also change the shape or charge properties of the substrate so that either the substrate connot bind to the active site or it cannot undergo catalysis.

In geneal enzyme have a pH optimum. However the optimum is not the same for each enzyme.

What method is water added to the atmosphere
lubasha [3.4K]

Answer:

Transpiration

Explanation:

Heat from the Sun causes water to evaporate from the surface of lakes and oceans. This turns the liquid water into water vapor in the atmosphere. Plants, too, help water get into the atmosphere through a process called transpiration!

Is a adaption a behavior or a genetic characteristic
Phantasy [73]
An adaptation occurs when a species is set through a new constraint. This can be change in climate, defense mechanisms, food source, etc. Which will have to occur before an adaptation is made. For an example: in North America the climate slightly swifted. This meant smaller mammals such as rabbits would need to have a thicker coat of fur or shelter. Let's say all the thin furred rabbits died and all that remained were the thick furred rabbits. Over a span of time the rabbits have adapted through the climate. Meaning most of the population is thick furred through their DNA. Conclusively, it's a genetic characteristic that can happen very rapidly or slowly.
