The bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is a method used to estimate the body composition of a person, in particular, the body fat and muscle composition. The principle of the machine is that it generates a weak current that flows through the body and a small voltage is generated. This small voltage is then generated to calculate the impedance, or resistance to the flow of the current. This impedance then is converted by a transducer to generate the body fat content of the body as a percentage.
