Answer:

B. Blood exits the left ventricle through the aortic valve into the aorta

Explanation:

- Blood entering the left ventricle is usually quite high in its oxygen concentration. Atria are the thin walled receiving chambers. The right atrium receives the deoxygenated blood from different parts of the body through superior and inferior vena cava. Left atrium receives the oxygenated blood through pulmonary veins. This oxygenated blood then passes to the left ventricle when bicuspid valve opens.

- Atrial systole i.e atrial contraction occurs for a period of 0.1 second which is followed by the ventricular contraction for a period of 0.3 seconds. For a time period of 0.4 seconds both ventricles and auricles are in diastolic phase which is refereed as joint diastole.

- Ventricles are thick walled blood pumping chambers and in fact the left ventricle is thicker than that of the right ventricle. The thicker walls of left ventricle are useful for pumping the blood to all the body parts though aorta guarded by aortic valve.

"in a chemical synapse, neurotransmitters are spilled into the synaptic cleft by what action?"
34kurt
Starting from the triggering action potential, the membrane potential in the neuron will propagate from the dendrites to the cell body then to the axons where synaptic vesicles are located. The action potential will trigger an influx of calcium into the axon then calcium will bind to proteins that will move the synaptic vesicles to the synaptic cleft. The membrane of the synaptic vesicles will eventually join the membrane of the synapse and then the neurotransmitters inside the vesicles will be "spilled" into the synaptic cleft.

At birth, an infant's head is _____ its body's size, whereas in adulthood, the head is _____ its body's size.
Vitek1552 [10]
The correct answer is: d. 1/4; 1/8.

Baby's head must be large and must grow rapidly because its brain during the first 9 months of growth reaches half of its adult size. So, the head has to (compared to the size of their body) accommodate that brain. Sometimes it is even bigger than one-quarter of full baby’s length.
