I think that This is correct, the very reason for English settlers coming to U.S is haphazard. They came here in search for religious freedom from the British crown, and forced there way onto America. From then on they have used the land, gotten sick and died, searched for treasure destroyed the land and fought with Indians. The situations that brought them to settle in America and their dissensions afterwords set the building blocks for an extremely haphazard way of life. They killed many Indians made treaties and broke them, mined the earth for oil and made war with Brittan 2 times. Also their greed for money and industrialization was also out of control. All in all the settlements of early America, was forced due to oppression and was never gilded into a thoughtful manner.

All this needs is specific detail which i can't do since i don't have your book or curriculum.

I just answered your previous questions about this and here is the work
Historians have argued that the settlement of the English colonies was undertaken in a haphazard manner, with little regard to the geography, climate, peoples, or practical demands of the New World. I believe that this statement would be correct because the English came here in search for religious freedom from the laws of England and they made their way into America. From that moment on, they had made the best of the land that they were provided with, they had fights with the Indians that lived on the land, they had searched for treasure, they had gone through tormenting sicknesses and harsh winters, and in all of that craziness, they destroyed their land. The pilgrims had killed multiple Indians, made treaties with the Indians and then broke them, and they had also gone into war with Britain two times. This was a very haphazard way of living and their lives were very disorganized but even though it was very hard, they still persevered.

'Diary of a Tar Heel Confederate Soldier' is a diary of a Confederate Army, who fought during the Civil War, 1861-65.

The war ceded with surrender of Confederate army in 1865. This Civil War is considered to be the most horrific of wars ever fought in America.

The diary was written by Loius Leon, who was a soldier in Confederate Army in this Civil War. In his diary, he carefully recorded his days during the war and aftermaths of war.

<u>In the given excerpt, he is describing the Kingston as a </u><u><em>'perfect ruin.'</em></u><u> The town of Kingston was made a ruin by thhe severe damage incurred by Union Troops, also known as Yankees. The excerpt was dated February 9, by Leon. Confederate army, according to Leon's diary, reached Kingston on February 7, and they began to camp there.</u>

Union Troops has completely destroyed the Kingston town leaving it to be a desolate place.

Thus the excerpt is describing the town as the one that's been severely damaged by Union Troops.

The correct option is the second one.
