The partition was made to prevent religious conflict between Muslims and Hindus, with Muslims in Pakistan and Hindus in India. Mohammed Ali Jinnah is known as one of the people campaigning for the partition. He believed the partition was a necessary safeguard to the rights of muslims. He took part in negotiations with Britain for the partition to happen and later became the first Governor general of Pakistan and later died.
