There are two ways you can go about this. If you know the 3-4-5 triangle, and you multiply by 3, you will get a 6-8-10 triangle, so the missing length is 6. You can also simply us the pythagorean theorem. $a^2+(8)^2=(10)^2\\a^2+64=100\\a^2=36\\a=6$
