1) Since there are 16 ounces in a pound you multiply 16 by the number of pounds. So 6x16=96 then add the extra ounces and your answer is 100 oz.

2) Seth finished faster because she finished in 24 second, since there are 3 feet per yard, you multiply 3x200=600, then, you divide 600 feet by 25 feet and you get 24. So Seth finished in 24 seconds

Number 5 is:

1 pound = 16 ounces so you're going to take 16 and multiply 6 the answer is 96 ounces, then add 4 ounces to the 96 equaling 100 ounces. Hope this helps!!

4/5z=16 solve equation (that's a fraction )
Assoli18 [71]
So we need to isolate the variable. In order to do that, we need to multiply both sides by 5/4.
Why? That's so that 4/5z will be canceled out when multiplied by 5/4 to get just z.
And so, we would get 20 as our answer.

Money is invested into an account earning 4.25% interest compounded annually. If the accumulated value after 18 years will be $2
Lunna [17]
We are given with the following:
Effective annual interest, i = 0.0425
Future worth, F = $25000
Number of years, n = 18

We use the formula to solve for the present worth of the money:
P = F / (1 + i)^n
P = 25000 / (1 + 0.0425)^18
P = 11818.73

The closest answer is:
b.
$11,820

The area of a room is 396 square feet. The length is x+3, and the width is x+7 feet. Find the dimensions of the room
Marrrta [24]
This is an odd problem. The length and width look like they should be interchanged. Anyway I'll solve it and we'll talk about the results.
(x +7) (x + 3) = 396
x^2 + 7x + 3x + 21 = 396
x^2 + 10x + 21 = 396 Subtract 21 from both sides.
x^2 + 10x = 396 - 21
x^2 + 10x = 375
x^2 + 10x - 375 = 0 This probably factors.
(x + 25)(x - 15)
x + 25 = 0
x = - 25 which makes no sense. Negatives do not describe room dimensions.
x - 15= 0
x = 15. this is fine.

x+3 = 15 + 3 = 18
x + 7 = 15 + 7= 22

Check
=====
Area = L * W = 18 * 22 = 496. It does check.
22 should be the length

18 should be the width.
