Punnet squares! Can anyone help I’m struggling!

Biology
1 answer:
Paladinen [302]3 years ago

Answer:

Explanation In order to set up a dihybrid punnet square you must figure put the parents first.

since the first parent is homozygous that means the alleles are the same and since its dom that means alleles are dom. so they would be RRTT

The second parentis Heterozygous which means the alleles are different. This would be shown as RrTt.

when setting up the punnet square the boxes we use to represent the parents are composed of the possible outcomes. In this case the only outcome for the first parent is RT RT RT RT

The second parent has a bit more variation as the possible combinations are RT rT Rt rt

after writing those what you have left is the possible combinations and their genotypes

I added an attached file of the completed square

For the questions what you have all you have to do is follow the chart made

a) 100% and the possible genotypes are RRTT RrTT RRTt RrTt

b) 0% ad none

c) 0% and none

Why does crossing over occur more often between two distantly linked genes than between two closely linked genes on the same chr
Bingel [31]

Answer:

This is because crossing over occurs between two homologous chromosomes. It involves an exchange of segments of their arms of the two chromosomes during Metaphase I of meiosis. Genes on the different chromosomes are, therefore, more likely to be crossed over than genes on the same chromosome. In addition, because sections of the arms are exchanged, genes that are close to each other on the same chromosome are more likely to be exchanged together (these are called linked genes) than genes that are far apart on the same chromosome.

Generalize: If either allele is the(dominant, recessive) allele for a trait, the organism will exhibit that trait. An organism w
seropon [69]
Mendel’s law of dominance states that the dominant allele is always expressed. For example if there were two homozygous rats, one with grey fur, GG and one with white fur gg, the F2 generation will have Gg, expressing the dominant grey fur, only when having gg, two recessive alleles, will the recessive Gene be exhibited. Therefore only when both alleles are recessive.
