Answer:

!. Scale factor = 5

2. Scale factor = \frac{1}{5}

Step-by-step explanation:

scale = \frac{length in drawing}{actual length}

1. To increase the numbers, let the scale factor be \frac{5}{1} = 5. So that;

0.05 x 5 = 0.25

\frac{1}{2} x 5 = 0.5 x 5 = 2.50

7 x 5 = 35.00

13 x 5 = 65.00

25 x 5 = 125.00

102 x 5 = 510.00

2. To decrease the numbers, let the scale factor be \frac{1}{5}. So that;

0.05 x \frac{1}{5} = 0.01

\frac{1}{2} x \frac{1}{5} = 0.5 x \frac{1}{5} = 0.10

7 x \frac{1}{5} = 1.40

13 x \frac{1}{5} = 2.60

25 x \frac{1}{5} = 5.00

102 x \frac{1}{5} = 20.40

A catapult launches a boulder with an upward velocity of 120 ft/s. The height of the boulder, h,
Vlad1618 [11]

Answer:

Reaches a maximum height of 235.00 feet in 3.75 seconds.

Step-by-step explanation:

The height of the boulder, h,  in feet after t seconds is given by the function is given by :

h=-16t^2+120t+10 .....(1)

For maximum height, put \dfrac{dh}{dt}=0

i.e.

\dfrac{d(-16t^2+120t+10)}{dt}=0\\\\-32t+120=0\\\\32t=120\\\\t=3.75\ s

Put t = 3.75 in equation (1). So,

h=-16(3.75)^2+120(3.75)+10\\\\h=235\ \text{feet}

So, the boulder's maximum height is 235 feets and it takes 3.75 s to reach to its maximum height.
