Answer:

It is the passageway for both food and air

Explanation:

The pharynx is also known as the throat, and it contains passageways for both food and air. When food is swallowed, a flap of cartilage called the epiglottis presses down to cover the opening to the air passageway.

Answer:

The pharynx, or what we know as the "throat," is a  dual duty body part. It has the job of both swallowing/ moving food to the esophagus. It is also the channel that allows air from your nasal/ oral cavities to flow down to your larynx, or voice box.

Hope this helps!

Should we devote time and money to developing alternative energy resources? Why?
tia_tia [17]
I believe that we should devote time and money into developing alternative energy resources. There is a lot of debate as to whether or not global warming is man made or not but even if its not burning fossil fuels causes quite a bit of pollution and can be expensive and dangerous

Mandarinka [93]

Answer:

a. a portion of the population becomes isolated from the remainder of the population and experiences different selective pressures

Explanation:

This is an example of allopatric speciation Allopatric speciation is a form of speciation (formation of new species) that occurs as a result of geographic isolation. This means that a part of population becomes physically separated from the initial main population. There is no gene flow between these two populations and as a result the two populations  reach a high level  of genetic divergence. They can no longer interbreed which means they become two different species (speciation).

New populations evolve as result of mutation, genetic drift and natural selection.

For example, Galapagos finches are isolated from others by the ocean (geographic isolation).  Because of the isolation, the finches don’t breed with one another. So, they developed unique characteristics and became endemic.
