The first land plants evolved around 350 million years ago and are known as mosses.

Further explanation

Mosses are generally found in shady or damp places. They are flowerless plants that appear o be small in size. These plants have simple leaves that are attached to unbranched or branched stem. The stem has a limited role in the conduction of nutrients and water. The mosses lack seeds and results in the formation of sporophytes after fertilization. The sporophytes contain spores. These plants are categorized as non-vascular plants along with liverworts and hornworts due to the absence of the vascular tissue system.

Mosses come under the division Bryophyta. Mosses are used as decorative plants and are an important constituent of peat. These plants absorb water through the leaves and also perform photosynthesis to prepare their food. They lack xylem tracheids which generally bear water in vascular plants.

Unlike vascular plants, mosses possess single chromosomal set and are therefore haploid. The stage during which mosses have paired chromosomes is the sporophyte stage. Its life cycle initiates with a spore that is haploid and germinates into a protonema. A protonema is a thallus-like structure and is grown on a stable surface like damp soil, concrete, or tree bark. The protonema further grows into a gametophore which differentiates into leaves and stems.

andrezito [222]

A phylogenetic tree uses only 1 and 2 whereas a cladogram does not. The group of answer choices includes the dimension of time indicates ancestral-descendant relationships use analogous character traits all of these.

A phylogenetic tree is a bifurcation diagram used to explain scientists' hypotheses about how branching between evolutionary lines occurred.

The most recent common ancestor of two taxa is the node that represents the fork between those taxa. In this case, the letter b represents the turning point between the gorilla and the human.

A phylogenetic tree is a bifurcation diagram showing putative relationships between different species based on similarities and differences in physical and/or genetic characteristics.
