Beethoven lost his hearing in 1798. due to unknown cause. <span>He wrote a letter to his brothers about his thoughts of suicide due to his deafness, but decided to continue living for and through his art. After that he wrote the Ninth Symphony (1824), which is his most famous work.</span>
