22)

Because OP and OR trisect <NOS

so <NOP = <POR

3x - 4y = x - y so 2x = 3y

<POR = <ROS

x - y = y - 10 so x = 2y - 10

Substitue x = 2y - 10 into 2x = 3y

2(2y - 10) = 3y

4y - 20 = 3y

y = 20

x = 2y - 10 = 2(20) - 10 = 30

x = 30 and y = 20

<ROS = y - 10 = 20 - 10 = 10

Answer

<ROS = 10°

When an angle is trisected, it is divided into 3 equal parts. That is,

... 3x -4y = x - y . . . . . ∠NOP = ∠POR

... x - y = y - 10 . . . . . ∠POR = ∠ROS

Add y to the second of these equations and you get

... x = 2y - 10

Substitute this into the first equation and you get

... 3(2y -10) -4y = (2y -10) -y . . . . substitute 2y-10 for x

... 2y -30 = y -10 . . . . . . . . . . . . . simplify

... y = 20 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . add 30-y

... y - 10 = 20 -10 = 10 . . . . . . . . .substitute the value of y into the expression for the measure of angle ROS

m∠ROS = 10

The ratio of boys and girls in a 4:3.If there are 20 boys, find the number of girls.
Elina [12.6K]

Answer:

There are 15 girls.

Step-by-step explanation:

The ratio is 4:3, meaning there are 7 parts.

4 parts= 20 (Boys)

This means 1 part is 20 divided by 4.

1 part= 5

3 parts= Amount of girls.

3 x 5 = 15.

There are 15 girls.

\bf h=-9.8t^2+45t+1.2\implies 64.5=-9.8t^2+45t+1.2
\\\\\\
0=-9.8t^2+45t-63.3\\\\
-------------------------------

\bf \qquad \qquad \qquad \textit{discriminant of a quadratic}
\\\\\\
0=\stackrel{\stackrel{a}{\downarrow }}{-9.8}t^2\stackrel{\stackrel{b}{\downarrow }}{+45}t\stackrel{\stackrel{c}{\downarrow }}{-63.3}
~~~~~~
\stackrel{discriminant}{b^2-4ac}=
\begin{cases}
0&\textit{one solution}\\
positive&\textit{two solutions}\\
negative&\textit{no solution}
\end{cases}
\\\\\\
(45)^2-4(-9.8)(-63.3)\implies -456.36
the discriminant is a negative value, thus no solution for such quadratic, meaning if we use h=64.5 like we did, there's no "t" seconds at which point the ball hits the batting cage.
