When you listen to someone tell a story, you are experiencing how they portray it, in a way. When you tell a story, you are telling people how you portray it. They are related because both have a way that someone portrays the story. Not everyone might see it the same way, so when being read to, and reading to someone, you get to experience, and have someone else experience your version.
