Radio underwent a series of significant events that helped in the evolution of radio from being a toy to its first nationwide hookup. <em>On January 1, the first-ever coast-to-coast radio network was launched by the National Broadcasting Company(NBC). On 2nd January and 15th, the 'first religious and live sports broadcast' was made by Reverend Claude and Teddy Wakelam on the radio</em>. The formation of 'Federal Radio Commission' in February, short wave broadcasts in March followed by regular transmission in May from Lille and Brittany. In July 1927, the first nation-wide broadcast was made by the combination of Canadian radio houses/stations. <u>This eventually ended up with the signing of the 'International Radio-Telegraphy Convention' by around eighty participatory nations</u>.
