Answer:

4 lysosomes takes 2 hr 45 mins to digest 11 foreign invader

Explanation:

Given data:

No. of foreign invader is 11

Total number of lysosome is 4

If 1 hr is used for foreign invader then

From the data we have following

If 1 lysosomes take 1 hr to digest 1 foreign invader

Then

4 lysosomes take 1/4 hr to digest one foreign invaders

Therefore

4 lysosomes takes 11/4 hr to digest 11 foreign invader

11/4 mean = 2 3/4 hr i.e 2 hr 45 mins.

The correct answer is 3 hours.

During the first hour, all of the 4 lysosomes will digest 4 foreign invaders.

During the second hour another 4 foreign invaders will be digested.

The remaining 3 foreign invaders will be digested by 3 lysosomes during the third hour.

How do planaria regenerate?
Kipish [7]

Regeneration in planarians depends on the presence of stem cells called neoblasts. These cells are distributed throughout the body and, when part of the worm has been amputated, they are activated to reform the tissues that have been removed.

36. What metabolic pathway is depicted below?
Yakvenalex [24]

Answer:

Anaerobic respiration or fermentation

Explanation:

The metabolic pathway shown in the question is the summary of anaerobic respiration (fermentation) during which pyruvate is converted to acetaldehyde, followed by the formation of alcohol (ethanol), along with the release of NADH and NAD molecules. This mechanism occurs in the absence of oxygen and is thus used by organisms to generate energy (ATP) molecules.

According to slide 12, what is the relationship between opportunistic infections and the number of T cells a person has? Explain
podryga [215]

Answer:

The fewer number of T cells a person has, the more chances to be affected by an opportunistic infection. When the number of T cells reaches 200 cells/µl, the person is at risk of being infected by other infections.

Explanation:

The whole immune system of a person who is infected with HIV infection seems to be severely affected. When the person is not treated or the disease is in a very advanced stage, the depletion of the T- cells turns to be very sharped, especially CD4+ T cells. At this point, the immune system can not resist the attack of other microorganisms. The lower is the number of CD4+ T Cells, the higher possibility the person has to be attacked by opportunistic infections.

Classically, it has been suggested that opportunistic infections appear after the CD4 + T lymphocytes reach very low levels, such as 200 cells/µl. The number of circulating T cells can be used as an indicator and a measure of global "immune competence", and the previously mentioned amount of CD4 + T cells is an accepted universal reference used to predict the risk of having one of these opportunistic infections.

Determine whether each of the following is a characteristic of the life cycle of a seed plant, a seedless plant, or both. Double
Gnoma [55]

Double fertilization-plants with seeds (flowering plants), two male gametes joining with female gametophyte

Gametophyte generation-both (haploid, sexual stage stage-gametophyte, and the diploid stage that produces spores – sporophyte)

Endosperm formed-plants with seed because it is a tissue formed inside the seed which surrounds the embryo and provides nutrition

Mitosis-both (mitosis occurres in spores)

Spores develop into gametophytes-both but, in seedless plants sporophyte produces spores that will develop into a new organism (multicellular gametophyte) using mitosis, while spores of seed plants are produced internally and develop into more complex structures.
