How many 3/8 cup servings are in a pitcher containing 6 3/4 cup of orange juice?

You can solve this problem in multiple ways, but you'll have to divide the total volume with the amount per servings to find the number of servings (makes sense logically if you think about it).

The first way is to just use the fractions given. This will usually be your method in handling this if you're not familiar with it.

Convert 6 3/4 into an improper fraction. To do this, we need to put the 6 into the numerator somehow. We can approach this by multiplying the whole number (6) with the denominator (4) and adding it to (3). Basically, 6 x 4 + 3 = 27. This will be our new numerator. If you are not familiar with this concept, please let me know.

Our new fraction for the total amount of juice is \frac{27}{4}. Divide this with the amount per serving, \frac{3}{8}

\frac{27}{4} /  \frac{3}{8}
We flip the second fraction over and multiply it.

\frac{27}{4} * \frac{8}{3} = \frac{9}{1} * \frac{2}{1} = 18 servings (I crossed out common numbers here, unfortunately I don't know how to do that here so let me know if my explanation was not clear enough. I skipped a few steps.)

18 servings would be your answer.

Or you can convert 6 3/4 into decimal, which would be 6.75. 3/8 in decimal is .375 and you can do long division from there. That way is a bit more tedious in my opinion, but sometimes more convenient.

Cheers!

What is the slope??? Please show step by step!!
aksik [14]

Answer:

In order to find the slope, we would need to format the coordinates like rise over run (y/x)

We find two points, (-6, 12) and (-5, 14)

Now we subtract the y coordinates from each other and do the same for the x coordinates

14 and 12 are our y coordinates so that will be our rise

-5 and -6 are x coordinates so that will be our run

14 - 12             2

_______ = ______

-5 - (-6)           1

2 is the slope

In a survey of 1000 randomly selected adults in the United States, participants were asked what their most favorite and what the
xenn [34]

Answer:

(a) The 95% confidence interval for the population proportion of US adults for whom math was their most favorite subject is (0.204, 0.256).

(b) The 95% confidence interval for the population proportion of US adults for whom math was their least favorite subject is (0.34, 0.40).

Step-by-step explanation:

The questions are:

(a) Construct and interpret a 95% confidence interval for the proportion of US adults for whom math was their most favorite subject.

(b) Construct and interpret a 95% confidence interval for the proportion of US adults for whom math was their least favorite subject. Solution:

(a)

The 95% confidence interval for the population proportion is:

CI=\hat p\pm z_{\alpha/2}\sqrt{\frac{\hat p(1-\hat p)}{n}}

Th information provided is:

<em>n</em> = 1000

Number of US adults for whom math was their most favorite subject

= <em>X</em>

= 230

Compute the sample proportion of US adults for whom math was their most favorite subject as follows:

\hat p=\frac{230}{1000}=0.23

The critical value of <em>z</em> for 95% confidence interval is:

z_{\alpha/2}=z_{0.05/2}=z_{0.025}=1.96

Compute the 95% confidence interval for the population proportion of US adults for whom math was their most favorite subject as follows:

CI=\hat p\pm z_{\alpha/2}\sqrt{\frac{\hat p(1-\hat p)}{n}}

     =0.23\pm 1.96\sqrt{\frac{0.23(1-0.23)}{1000}}\\=0.23\pm 0.0261\\=(0.2039, 0.2561)\\\approx (0.204, 0.256)

Thus, the 95% confidence interval for the population proportion of US adults for whom math was their most favorite subject is (0.204, 0.256).

(b)

The 95% confidence interval for the population proportion is:

CI=\hat p\pm z_{\alpha/2}\sqrt{\frac{\hat p(1-\hat p)}{n}}

Th information provided is:

<em>n</em> = 1000

Number of US adults for whom math was their least favorite subject

= <em>X</em>

= 370

Compute the sample proportion of US adults for whom math was their least favorite subject as follows:

\hat p=\frac{370}{1000}=0.37

The critical value of <em>z</em> for 95% confidence interval is:

z_{\alpha/2}=z_{0.05/2}=z_{0.025}=1.96

Compute the 95% confidence interval for the population proportion of US adults for whom math was their least favorite subject as follows:

CI=\hat p\pm z_{\alpha/2}\sqrt{\frac{\hat p(1-\hat p)}{n}}

     =0.37\pm 1.96\sqrt{\frac{0.37(1-0.37)}{1000}}\\=0.37\pm 0.0299\\=(0.3401, 0.3999)\\\approx (0.34, 0.40)

Thus, the 95% confidence interval for the population proportion of US adults for whom math was their least favorite subject is (0.34, 0.40).
