Which statement describes a similarity between the Iraq War, which began in 2003, and the War in Afghanistan, which began in 200
DerKrebs [107]

Answer:

The correct answer is A. Both wars experienced insurgencies after the ruling regimes were defeated.

Explanation:

The War in Afghanistan began on October 7, 2001, almost a month after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The Bush administration accused the Taliban of providing the base of operations for the terrorist group Al Qaeda, which was adjudicated responsibility for the attacks. In December 2001, the Taliban government had been defeated and a new democratic government had been established, but this war lasted until December 2014 with a majority American presence, and from January 2015 to the present, with a gradual decline in American participation, due to to the various insurgent groups of an Islamic extremist nature that continue to operate in the country and pose a threat to the United States.

In turn, the Iraq War began on March 20, 2003, due to accusations by the American government that the Saddam Hussein regime owned or was developing weapons of mass destruction. In this case, the Hussein regime was overthrown and a provisional government was established in May, but the war continued until 2011 due to the presence of different insurgent groups in the area, such as Al Qaeda, the Baathists, or Ansar Al Sunnah. In fact, after 3 years without American participation, in 2014 President Obama had to send forces back to the country, due to the unstable situation of the Iraqi government.

What was the purpose of NATO during the Cold War?

NATO prioritized collective defense during the Cold War and safeguarding its members from potential Soviet Union attacks. With the fall of the Soviet Union and the emergence of non-state actors that have an impact on global security, numerous new security risks, such as terrorism, have emerged.

The Soviet Union wished to further spread its ideology throughout Europe and the rest of the world. In order to present a unified front and prevent Russia from acting irresponsibly and disastrously as tensions between the Allied nations and the Soviet Union grew even tenser, NATO enabled its member nations to do so.

In at least 100 to 150 words, construct a picture of Hideki Tojo. Who was he? Why was he important in the Asian Pacific War?
damaskus [11]

Hideki Tojo was a prominent Japanese soldier, who became prime minister of Japan during World War II, between 1941 and 1944. He held other important positions as Minister of War (1940-1944), Minister of Foreign Affairs (1942), Minister of Education (1942) or Chief of the Army Staff (1944).

He was the intellectual architect of the Japanese invasion of Manchuria, which eventually led to the war against China and, later, the Second World War. Tojo had a charismatic personality and of great preponderance in the Japanese Army. During World War II, while he was prime minister, numerous war crimes, such as the execution of prisoners or even the use of chemical and biological weapons, were executed in the Japanese-occupied territories. In metropolitan Japan itself, the military police and other security forces turned the country into a real police state, while political life was reduced around the para-fascist movement Taisei Yokusankai, or the Imperial Regime Support Association . As a result of the cascade of military defeats that followed one another from 1942 and 1943, Tojo was forced to resign from all positions in July 1944.

After the end of the war, despite a failed attempt to kill himself, he was arrested by the American authorities. He was tried in the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, which sentenced him to death, being hanged on December 23, 1948.
