Thurgood Marshall was an American lawyer, who was also serving as an <em>Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States</em>.
After Thurgood heard of arguments from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) concerning the racial segregation laws and lack of educational opportunities given to the black majority, he reversed/overturned the Plessy v Ferguson decision on May 17, 1954.
