A ladder is leaning against a wall. The top of the ladder is 9 feet above the ground. If the bottom of the ladder is moved 3 fee

t farther from the wall, the ladder will be lying flat on the ground, still touching the wall. How long, in feet, is the ladder?

So technically they are asking you to find the hypotenuse of a right angle triangle the height is 9ft and the length is 3ft so the formula is
A² +b²=c²

the a² and B² Being the height and length and label the third side c²

so..
9²+3²=c²
9×9+3×3=c²
81+9=c²
40=c²
√40=√c²
6.32=c
therefore the ladder is 6.32

well i think that is how you answer

Check the picture below

\bf \textit{using the pythagorean theorem}\\\\
r^2=x^2+y^2\implies r=\sqrt{x^2+y^2}
\\\\\\
r=\sqrt{x^2+9^2}\implies r=\sqrt{x^2+81}\impliedby \textit{leaning ladder}
\\\\\\
r=\sqrt{(x+3)^2+0^2}\implies r=\sqrt{(x+3)^2}\impliedby \textit{flat ladder}\\\\
-------------------------------\\\\

\bf \sqrt{x^2+81}=\sqrt{(x+3)^2}\implies x^2+81=(x+3)^2
\\\\\\
x^2+81=x^2+6x+9\implies 81-9=6x\implies 72=6x\implies \cfrac{72}{6}=x
\\\\\\
\boxed{12=x}\\\\
-------------------------------\\\\
\textit{now, the ladder "r" is }\sqrt{(x+3)^2}\implies \sqrt{(12+3)^2}\implies 15

Answer:

- Translation

Step-by-step explanation:

Movement of a rigid object from one place to another without any turning is "translation." If the object also changes its orientation angle, then rotation is involved.

Use the Shell Method to find the volume of the solid obtained by rotating region under the graph of f(x)=x^2+2 for 0≤x≤5 about x
Irina18 [472]

For each <em>x</em> in the interval 0 ≤ <em>x</em> ≤ 5, the shell at that point has

• radius = 5 - <em>x</em>, which is the distance from <em>x</em> to <em>x</em> = 5

• height = <em>x</em> ² + 2

• thickness = d<em>x</em>

and hence contributes a volume of 2<em>π</em> (5 - <em>x</em>) (<em>x</em> ² + 2) d<em>x</em>.

Taking infinitely many of these shells and summing their volumes (i.e. integrating) gives the volume of the region:

\displaystyle 2\pi \int_0^5 (5-x)(x^2+2)\,\mathrm dx=2\pi\int_0^5 (10-2x+5x^2-x^3)\,\mathrm dx=\boxed{\frac{925\pi}6}

a dragonfly can beat its wings 30 times per seconed.write an equation in slope intercept from that shows the relationship betwee
Andreas93 [3]

Answer:

s=30f

Step-by-step explanation:

S = second; F = flying time.

Since it can flap its wings 30 times, each second, we have already found our answer. The relationship between flying time (Wing flaps) and seconds is 30. In other words, it beats it's wings 30 times each second. Which is what the question asks.

Now we just have to write the equation:

s=30f

This is because the seconds are <u>dependent</u> on the flap of wings, so s would be the y value.

Hope it Helps!
