Answer:

B.Galileo's observations could prove Copernicus's theories about the order of the universe.

Explanation:

Galileo Galilei was an Italian astronomer and physicist who lived at the end of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century. He was the first astronomer who used the telescope to observe celestial bodies. Through his observations, he proved with solid evidence that Copernicus's theory about the order of the universe, the Heliocentric model, was correct. The Heliocentric model, which states that the Earth and the planets orbit around the Sun, was against the old Geocentric model, which posits that the Sun, the Moon, and the planets rotate around the Earth, which lies fixed at the center of the system. This geocentric model, also known as the Ptolemaic model, was held by the Catholic Church as the true universal system ordered by God, and it was supported with Biblical references. Galileo's observations and the demonstration of the validity of Copernicus's theory threatened the model supported by the Church, and therefore, it threatened the Church's authority in moral, scientific, and political matters. For this reason, the Church sought to silence him and his studies. However, the truth came to the light and Galileo started a scientific revolution that continued with the studies of Kepler and Newton.
