Answer:

1) <em><u>26.</u></em><em><u>1</u></em><em><u>% increase</u></em>

2) <em><u>20% decrease</u></em>

Work:

1)

-subtract the larger # from the smaller # to figure out what the change was.

8.8 - 6.5 = 2.3

-divide 2.3 by the orriginal ammount (8.8) to find your answer as a decimal

2.3 \div 8.8 = 0.261

-take 0.261 and multiply it by 100 to have your answer as a percent

0.2614 \times 100 = 26.1

-if the original number increased than it is percent increase and if the original number decreased than it is percent decrease

2)

-subtract the larger # from the smaller # to figure out what the change was.

15 - 12 = 3

-divide 2.3 by the orriginal ammount (15) to find your answer as a decimal

3 \div 15 = 0.2

-take 0.2 and multiply it by 100 to have your answer as a percent

0.2 \times 100 = 20

-if the original number increased than it is percent increase and if the original number decreased than it is percent decrease
