Let width = w  then we have the equation:-

w(w + 12) = 448

w^2 + 12w - 448 = 0

(w - 16)(w + 28) = 0

w = 16

Answer: the dimensions of the window are width 16 by height 28 inches

The graph shows the cost of some taxi journeys<br><br> work out a formula for c in terms of n
Vitek1552 [10]

Answer:

c=\frac{3}{5}(n)+2.5

Step-by-step explanation:

see the attached figure to better understand the problem

Let

c -----> the cost of some taxi journeys

n ----> the number of miles

we know that

The graph is a line

The equation of a line in slope intercept form is

c=m(n)+b

where

m is the slope

b is the c-intercept (value of c when the value of n is equal to zero)

Observing the graph  we have the points

(0,2.5), (5,5.5)

<em>Find the slope</em>

The formula to calculate the slope between two points is equal to

m=\frac{c2-c1}{n2-n1}

substitute the values

m=\frac{5.5-2.5}{5-0}

m=\frac{3}{5}

we have

b=2.5 -----> because the point (0,2.5) is the c-intercept

substitute in the equation of slope-intercept form

c=\frac{3}{5}(n)+2.5

A crater shaped like a cone has a height of 24 yd and a diameter of 72 yd.
mezya [45]
The formula for the volume of a cone is (1/3)*area of the base * height. The base is a circle, whose area is pi times radius^2. Here this is pi * (r^2) = 3.14*(72 / 2 yd)^2 = 4069.44 yd^2. And so the volume is (1/3) * 4069.44 yd^2 * 24yd = 32,555.52 yd^3. I recommend that you find the most common formulas of the geometrical figures and make a flashcard that you can use at any moment.

Sally has been measuring the tree in her yard for a science project. The tree has grown 12 of an inch each month and grown a tot
hammer [34]

Answer:

Sally has been measuring the tree for 4 months

Step-by-step explanation:

The correct question is as follows;

Sally has been measuring the tree in her yard for a science project. The tree has grown 1/2 of an inch each month and grown a total of 2 inches taller. How many months has Sally been measuring this tree?

.........................................................................................

Solution;

The tree has grown 1/2 of an inch each month and has grown a total of 2 inch taller.

We now need to know the number of months in which the measuring has been taking place.

To know the number of months, we simply need to divide the change in height which is 2 inch by the individual month growth rate which is 1/2 inch

So mathematically, that would be 2/1/2 = 2 * 2 = 4 months
