Explain how “lol” has evolved over the years

As people laugh everyday and also laugh during text messages we made a way for saying LOL instead of laugh out loud now when people think something is funny when texting or talking people will say LOL

Um I guess it was a word or part of a word, then it go abbreviated to lol and meant what the original word meant, I guess.
