What is the biggest criticism of the electoral college system?

History

The biggest criticism of the electoral college is that the system is inherently oligarchic. The system is set up so that the Electorates (those who vote for the president) can be essentially anyone. This is what makes up a Representative Republic and not a Direct Democracy. In our republic, we choose who gets to vote for our president, in other words, you chose a representative. In a direct democracy, you chose for your president directly

The primary criticism comes from proponents of direct democracy. The electoral college is an all or nothing system in the majority of states. For example, if yo are one of the 14+ million republican voters in California your vote means nothing as all the electoral votes - even though 33%~ should be representing their vote, is not. All 55 electoral votes go to the democratic candidate.

Describe President Andrew Jackson's attitude toward native people as he authorized theforced removal of Indians to Western lands
REY [17]
Overall, Jackson didn’t like the Natives. To him they were an obstacle in the way of good farmland. He believed poor white men should be allowed to live and farm on the Natives land, which is what initially led to him trying to move them.
The Natives in the South refused to give up their land, which led to the Cherokee tribe going to the American supreme court. Even though the case ruled in the Natives favor (they cannot be forced to move), Jackson still forced them to move. The Trail of Tears itself was brutal for the Natives and even after they arrived out West, they didn’t get much government assistance. These instances show his lack of empathy towards the Natives.
