Precipitation of water on the land surface in the hydrologic cycle leads directly to evaporation, filtration and run off
When water is release from clouds in the form of rain, sleet, hail, freezing rain, or snow precipitation happens. It is the main connection in the water cycle that gives for the transfer of atmospheric water to the Earth.

Answer:

evaporation, infiltration, and runoff

Explanation:

Rainfall is water released from clouds in the form of rain, hail or snow. It is the primary connection in the water cycle that provides atmospheric water delivery to the earth. Most precipitation falls as rain. When water reaches the soil, some of it is evaporated, while some rainwater soaks the soil (infiltration) as the soil is permeable, ie water can flow through it (runoff).

In the soil there are small pores, or voids, between the particles of sand, gravel and clay that make up the soil. Toward the surface, these pores may contain air and water. This is where plant roots will grow because plants need both water and air to survive. Rainwater that enters this upper soil can be sucked into the roots of a plant and later this water will be released back through the leaves of the plant in a process called evapotranspiration.

Carry the same genes at the same locus (Location)
Rasek [7]

Answer:

C.

Explanation:

Diploid and polypeptide cells whose chromosomes have the same allele at a given locus are called homologous with respect to that locus, while those that have different alleles at a given locus are called heterogeneous. The ordered list of loci known for a particular genome is called a gene map.

Gene expression in eukaryotes can be regulated at many different levels. List the different levels of regulation, and explain wh
Aneli [31]

Answer:

Transcription, mRNA (processing, transport, localization and stability), translation.

Explanation:

 • Transcription is regulated in two levels, though chromatin regulation (methylation and acetylation) to loose or increase histone's affinity to DNA and through cis and trans elements such as promoters, enhancers, and silencers (cis) to active/deactivate and RNA polymerase and transcription factors and co-factors (trans).
 • mRNA can be regulated using poly-A tails or 5'-caps to shorten or give them more time before they degrade, it could also be spliced to eliminate introns.
 • In the translation stage, the regulation occurs during the initiation through a scanning procedure that ensures the 40s ribosomal subunit bind correctly to the untranslated portion of RNA

Which of these is NOT a way, or a proposed way, to store nuclear fuel rods after they have been used in a nuclear reactor? A) pu
Ainat [17]
The answer is C.)sending them on the shuttle to be suspended in space. This is the answer because after the nuclear fuel rods come out of the reactor, they go into a deep pool to cool off. Then they are then stored in concrete and lead-lined casks for dry storage, until, ultimately, the US government builds a deep underground storage facility to house them permanently. They are never sent on the shuttle to be suspended in space. It would be too costly and too dangerous.

The sum total of an organism's interaction with the biotic and abiotic resources of its environment is called its A) habitat. B)
ivanzaharov [21]

Answer:

E) ecological niche

Explanation:

Every species on the planet, be it a bacteria, animal, or a plant has its own ecological niche. Basically, the ecological niche is the position and role that an organism is occupying in the environment. Further, this means that it is a combination of all the activities of the organism, how it uses the biotic and abiotic factors in the environment it leaves, how it finds food and how it feeds, its shelter, reproduction, the manner in which it survives. All of that sums up the species and its role in the environment, thus its ecological niche. There are countless ecological niches, as there are millions of different species, all of which have their own way of living, feeding, reproducing, interactions with the biotic and abiotic factors, resulting in numerous unique ecological niches.
