Terminal weaning is the incrementally withdrawal of mechanical ventilation from a patient who is not expected to survive. The process includes decreasing the ventilatory rate or decreasing inspired oxygenis  until the patient is no longer receiving that ventilatory support. Sedation an analgetics are used in this case in order to control distress and relief the pain. Palliative sedation is a process of continuous usage of sedative drug  in the last hours or days of a dying patient's life.
