    The book follows Mare Barrow in a world divided by blood. Red blood-or the commoners blood- has no special qualities. Red's are often treated badly. Silver blood-or the noble blood- has special qualities that grant the person powers such as hydrokinesis, and telekinesis. Mare Barrow has Red blood. However, she finds out that she has Silver powers. She must figure out a way to survive and end the prejudice against the Reds.
