In art history, the term renaissance, refers to a span of time between the 15th and 17th centuries

The name comes from the French word meaning "rebirth". This period was characterized with revival of art, literature, and learning, increased awareness of nature, a revival of classical learning, and a more individualistic view of man.

Was the viola developed from the viola da gamba
Arisa [49]
The viola is a string instrument that is bowed or played with varying techniques. It is slightly larger than a violin and has a lower and deeper sound. Since the 18th century, it has been the middle or alto voice of the violin family, between the violin and the cello. While the viola da gamba ( can be called a viol/gamba )is any one of a family of bowed, fretted and stringed instruments with hollow wooden bodies and pegboxes where the tension on the strings can be increased or decreased to adjust the pitch of each of the strings. Basically no, but they really do look similar to a violin.

skelet666 [1.2K]

Answer:

a. Terraced dynamics

Explanation:

Terraced dynamics, a unique characteristic of Baroque music, has to do with a quick alteration in tempo or volume that does not involves a progressive crescendos and decrescendos. The harpsichord, the basic keyboard tool of the era, could majorly perform forte (loud) or piano (soft) only, and couldn't perform crescendo or decrescendo in between, and thus results in a quick shift in dynamics. It is a specific character of music that represents it's success.

In some cases, they were highlighted in the score, but a large sort of area, it was agreed upon mostly by the performers or were directed by conventions which was fully expressed to all musicians.
