If you've lost your book, I highly advise you to tell your teacher, or whoever is teaching you. There is no literal way for you to do your work without the book. Although, there is an alternative. If you can find an online version of the book, then you don't need to ask, but if that's not an option, always ask.

How does the speaker describe the juggler and what does that description reveal about the speaker?
Naddik [55]

Answer:

The speaker describes the juggler as one who did incredible things, as a man who got tired and one who won the world's weight (last line of the last stanza).

The description reveals that the speaker was among those who applauded the juggler.

Explanation:

From the poem, we discover that juggler was seen as one who performed incredible things. Some of the things the poem stated that he did was the table turning on his toes, the broom balancing on his nose and the plate whirls at the tip of the broom.

We also discover that the juggler got tired as some point and the things he carried began to drop. At the end of the juggler's display, the speaker was among those who applauded him: "For him we batter our hands" (Line 29).

Then, at the end of the excerpt, the author tells how Pope was convinced by the bikes' possible business success "the businessman suddenly saw the potential of traveling on two wheels."

Read this passage from Alan Weisman's "The City Without Us":
Setler [38]

Answer:

The correct answer is D.

Working against the natural tendencies of the environment leads to long-term consequences.

Explanation:

In the first paragraph, the theme of green literature is evidenced when the writer references the damage to New York City's topography due to the need to build deep underground subways that double as bomb shelters.

In the second passage, the imagery used by the writer gives a clearer picture of the damage that was done to the environment.

In the first passage, the potential hazard arises because sewer lines have to be pumped uphill with subways below them.

If there is an earthquake, for instance, the entire structure comes crashing down.

In the second passage, the damage was already done, leaving Norwegians with the problem of how to create soils upon which plant fauna could thrive. Had they, managed the tree population by planting more than they were cutting, they probably would have avoided the "<em>green problem".</em>

Cheers
