I don't understand what you're saying. If you mean rounding, it would be rounded to 80-60, which would equal 20.

The ratio of red cars to blue cars in a parking lot was 5:3 . If there was 40 red cars , how many blue cars were there ?
Bas_tet [7]
The answer is x equals 24
you set up a proportion new over old
so for red cars 40 over 5
since we don’t know the new for blue cars we’ll use x
so x over 3
we then make them equal to each other
40 x
—- = —-
5 3
cross multiply, then we get
120=5x
isolate the x by dividing 5 from both sides to get 24

-4x+y=23 and 4x-9y=-15
astra-53 [7]

Answer:  x= -6; y= -1

Step-by-step explanation:

-4x + y = 23

4x - 9y = - 15

-4x + y = 23

      y = 23 + 4x     [Add 4x to both side]

4x - 9(23 + 4x) = - 15

4x - 207 - 36x = - 15

-32x - 207 = -15

-32x = 192             [Add 207 to both side]

    x = -6                [Divide -32 from both side]

-4x + y = 23

-4(-6) + y = 23          [Plug in -6 for x]

24 + y = 23              [Subtract 24 from both side]

       y = -1

I need help on finding an equation!?
Sedbober [7]

Your distance from Seattle after two hours of driving at 62 mph, from a starting point 38 miles east of Seattle, will be (38 + [62 mph][2 hr] ) miles, or 162 miles (east).

Your friend will be (20 + [65 mph][2 hrs] ) miles, or 150 miles south of Seattle.

Comparing 162 miles and 150 miles, we see that you will be further from Seattle than your friend after 2 hours.

After how many hours will you and your friend be the same distance from Seattle?  Equate 20 + [65 mph]t to 38 + [62 mph]t and solve the resulting equation for time, t:

20 + [65 mph]t  = 38 + [62 mph]t

Subtract [62 mph]t  from both sides of this equation, obtaining:

20 + [3 mph]t = 38.  Then [3 mph]t = 18, and t = 6 hours.

You and your friend will be the same distance from Seattle (but in different directions) after 6 hours.
