To find the area we need to do the things below:

Let:

42 = perimeter of KLMN
h1 = 5
h2 = 6

the perimeter of a parellelogram is equal to 2 (a +b)

let:

a = KL
b = LM

area of a parallelogram = bh

(also known as base x height)

b = LM
h = h1

Find the values of a and b in order to solve for the area of KLMN. Similar triangle means they are proportionality is equal.

P = 2 (a +b)
42 = 2(a+b)
12/2 = a + b
21 = a+b
21 -a = b

note:

hypotenuse / long leg

a / 5 = b/6
(21-a) / 6
a*6 = 5 (21 - a)
6a = 105 - 5a
6a + 5a = 105
11a = 105/11
= 9.55

b = 21 -a -> b = 21 - 9.55

b = 11.45

using the equation of the area of parallelogram:

area = bh

A = 11.45 * 5
A =57.25 square units

*below is an attached figure of the problem

Eli takes a typing test and types all 240 words in 1 10 hour. He takes the test a second time and types the words in 1 12 hour.
alexandr1967 [171]

Answer:

"faster"

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's put the rates of Eli in WORDS PER MINUTE (the normal measure for typing).

First, we need to convert 1/10th of an hour to minutes. Since there are 60 minutes in an hour, we need to multiply 1/10 with 60. So we have:

1/10 hour = 1/10 * 60 = 6 minutes

Now, converting 1/12th of an hour to minutes in the similar manner, we have:

1/12 hour = 1/12 * 60 = 5 minutes

Hence, first time his wpm (words per minute) is ----- 240/6 = 40 wpm

Also, second time his wpm (words per minute) is ------ 240/5 = 48 wpm

2nd time he was faster (since 48 wpm is greater than 40 wpm).

He was faster on his second attempt.

Step-by-step explanation: based on the values you have for m & b it would be...

y=4,200 x 2^{50}

y=4,200 x 1,125,899,906,842,624

y=4,728,779,608,739,020,800
