Creatinine, , is a by-product of muscle metabolism, and creatinine levels in the body are known to be a fairly reliable indicato

r of kidney function. The normal level of creatinine in the blood for adults is approximately 1.0 mg per deciliter (dl) of blood. If the density of blood is 1.025 g/ml, calculate the molality of a normal creatinine level in a 60.0-ml blood sample.

Answer;

Molarity = 88.25 μmol/L

Explanation;

The creatinine has a concentration of 1 mg / deciliter or 10 mg / liter of blood.

( 1 dL = .1L)

note; we don't need the volume of the sample

1 liter of blood weighs 1025 g so mg creatinine / kg of blood

= 10 x 1000 / 1025 = 9.756 mg creatinine / kg of blood

Molecular weight of C4H7N3O is 113.12 g/mol

moles of creatinine = 9.756 / 113.12 = 0.0862 / kg

molality of the creatinine in blood = 8.62 X 10 ^ -5 mol / Kg of blood

or 86.2 x 10 ^ -6 mol / kg or 86.2 μmol/ Kg

86.1 * 1.025 μmol/ L = 88.25μmol/ L

Molarity = 88.25 μmol/L

Aly's science class was looking at bacteria through a microscope. Aly's teacher said some bacteria can be as small as 0.00365 cm
olga nikolaevna [1]

Answer:

0.00365\ cm=3.65\times 10^{-3}\ cm

Explanation:

Aly's teacher said some bacteria can be as small as 0.00365 cm long.

In this problem, we need to write the length of the bacteria written in scientific notation. Any number can be written in the form of scientific notation as follows :

N=a\times 10^b

a is a real no and b is an integer

In the given number, there are two zeroes before 3. We need to shift the decimal after 3. It can be done as follows :

0.00365\ cm=3.65\times 10^{-3}\ cm

Hence, this is the required solution.

Select the mixture which is capable of tolerating addition of a strong acid without altering the pH? a.) 1.0 M HCl, 1.0 M NaCl b
wlad13 [49]

Answer:

d.) 1.0 M HNO2, 1.0 M NaNO2

Explanation:

A buffer is a mixture that is capable of tolerating addition of a strong acid or base without altering the pH substantially.

A buffer is the mixture of a WEAK ACID AND ITS CONJUGATE BASE or a WEAK BASE AND ITS CONJUGATE ACID

In the problems:

a) HCl is a strong acid and NaCl a salt. NO buffer

b) NH3 is a weak base and NaCL a salt. NO buffer

c) HF is a weak acid and NaCl a salt. NO buffer.

d) HNO2 is a weak acid and NaNO2 its conjugate base. A BUFFER

If 1.oo mol CS2 reacts with 1.00 mol O2 , identify the limiting reactant
miss Akunina [59]

moles of excess reactant remaining: 0.67 mol CS2

moles of each product formed: 0.33 mol CO2 and 0.67 mol SO2

your coefficients in the chemical equation reveal the molar ratio of the reactants that must be present to give a complete reaction of both reactants. in this case each mole of CS2 requires 3 moles of O2 to form the products given. if you start with equimolar amounts of both reactants then the O2 must be in insufficient supply to completely react with all of the CS2. if only 1 mole of O2 is present, it will be consumed by one third that amount of CS2. all O2 will react. 0.67 mole of CS2 will remain. the CO2 comes from the carbon in CS2, so 0.33 mole of CO2 will be produced. since 2 moles of SO2 are produced for each mole of CO2 produced, then the amount of SO2 produced will be 0.67 mol.
