1-3x-y=3
2x+y=25
Let’s start with the first one.
Subtract 1 from each side
-3x-y=2
Then add -3x to each side
-y=3x+2
Then move the negative and change the signs
Y=-3x-2
Now plug into the second equation
2x+(-3x-2)= 25
Now solve for x
2x-3x-2=25
Add 2 to both sides
2x-3x=27
Now subtract
-x=27
Move the negative to the other side because x can not be negative
X=-27
Now plug that into the second equation
2(-27)+y=25
Now just solve
-54+y=25
Y=79

Maureen went on a 3 day 50 mile trip. the first day she biked 17 7/8 miles . the second day she biked 18 5/7 miles. How many mil
Inessa [10]
To find the miles for 3rd day, we take away the miles she biked for the first two day from the total.

   50 - 17 \dfrac{7}{8} - 18\dfrac{5}{7}

=50 - 17 \dfrac{7 \times 7}{8 \times 7} - 18\dfrac{5 \times 8}{7 \times 8}

= 48 \dfrac{112}{56}  - 17 \dfrac{49}{56} - 18\dfrac{40}{56}

= 13 \dfrac{23}{56}   \text { miles }

Answer: She traveled 13 23/56 miles on the third day.

The curves y = √x and y=(2-x) and the Cartesian axes form two distinct regions in the first quadrant. Find the volumes of rotati
makkiz [27]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

If you graph there would be two different regions. The first one would be

y = \sqrt{x} \,\,\,\,, 0\leq x \leq 1 \\

And the second one would be

y = 2-x \,\,\,\,\,,  1 \leq x \leq 2.

If you rotate the first region around the "y" axis you get that

{\displaystyle A_1 = 2\pi \int\limits_{0}^{1} x\sqrt{x} dx = \frac{4\pi}{5} = 2.51 }

And if you rotate the second region around the "y" axis you get that

{\displaystyle A_2 = 2\pi \int\limits_{1}^{2} x(2-x) dx = \frac{4\pi}{3} = 4.188 }

And the sum would be  2.51+4.188 = 6.698

If you revolve just the outer curve you get

If you rotate the first  region around the x axis you get that

{\displaystyle A_1 =\pi \int\limits_{0}^{1} ( \sqrt{x})^2 dx = \frac{\pi}{2} = 1.5708 }

And if you rotate the second region around the x axis you get that

{\displaystyle A_2 = \pi \int\limits_{1}^{2} (2-x)^2 dx = \frac{\pi}{3} = 1.0472 }

And the sum would be 1.5708+1.0472 = 2.618
