Answer:

A) 12, 35, 40

Step-by-step explanation:

To identify a Pythagorean Triple, it has to go into the Pythagorean Theorem.

The formula is A^2 + B^2 = C^2

The first two numbers of your options would be the A^2 and B^2. Once you have that value, you can take the square root of C and that gives you what C^2 would be.

For instance:

12^2 + 35^2 = 1,369. The square root of 1,369 is 37. So A) is not correct.

A new one-year membership at RecPlex costs $160. A registration fee of $28 is paid up front, and the rest is paid monthly. How m
anzhelika [568]

Answer:

The first month new members have to pay 188 dollars for the membership.

The equation is 160x+28=y

x stands for the number of months and y stands for the total cost.

For the first month (membership starts) the total cost is 188$. For the second month the total money paid would be 348$. For the third month the total money paid would be 508$. And so on you can use the equation to solve for more months. Just substitute x for the number of months you are solving for.

Please Model this real-world scenario with an equation and possibly a sketch.
gregori [183]
This can be solved in several ways.  First with the basic trigonometry identity of tangent and sine (or cosine)

tanα=opposite side/adjacent side...

tanα=20/3

α=arctan(20/3)

Then sinα=h/x

x=h/sinα  where α found above and h=20m:

x=20/sin(arctan(20/3)) meters

x≈20.22m  (to nearest one-hundredth of a meter)

...

We could also use the Pythagorean Theorem which is easier for this problem...

x^2=h^2+d^2

x^2=20^2+3^2

x^2=400+9

x=√409 meters

x≈20.22 meters...

...

We could also use the Law of Cosines:

x^2=a^2+b^2-2abcos90  (-2abcos90=0 so we essentially get what we just did above)

x^2=a^2+b^2

x^2=409

x=√409

x≈20.22 meters
