Plant breeding is an application of genetic manipulation in plants. Plant breeding produces plants with desired traits and characteristics. It produces new plant varieties with traits such as high yield, stress tolerance, drought tolerance etc.
The selective introduction of desired traits in animals falls under animal husbandry. It entails selective breeding of animals for agriculture purposes.
