-3|x + 7|=-12\quad |:(-3)\\\\|x+7|=4\\\\\\x+7=-4\qquad\vee\qquad x+7=4\\\\x=-4-7\qquad\vee\qquad x=4-7\\\\\boxed{x=-11\qquad\vee\qquad x=-3}

First you divide both sides by -3
then you get |x + 7| = 4
what you do now is make two separate equations
drop the absolute value signs
x + 7 = 4 OR x + 7 = -4
subtract 7 from both sides AND BOTH EQUATIONS
x = -3 OR x = -11

lets check it!

-3 |-3 + 7| = -12                           -3 |-11 + 7| = -12
-3 |4| = -12                                  -3 |-4| = -12
-3 (4) = -12                                  -3 (4) = -12

yep! your answers are x = -3 OR x = -11

i hope this helps!!

Jennifer receives $100 and puts it into her savings account. She adds $0.25 to the account each day for a number of days, d, aft
Alona [7]

This would be A because $100 is the initial amount, and you are adding the amount that arises after (d) days. Since you are adding, it will be the sum. B says product, so you can rule it out. D says difference, so you can rule that out as well. C would be adding the days, not the amount earned each day.

twelve students have an equally likely chance of being selected in a drawing at school. eight are girls and four are boys. what
andriy [413]

Answer:

33% chance

Step-by-step explanation:

there are 12 students total and there are two groups of students, boys and girls, 8 girls 4 boys so we take that and convert it to a fraction which would make 2/3 girls and 1/3 boys, so that would mean that boys have a 33% chance of being selected

Find the x-intercepts for the parabola defined by the equation below. y = x2 + 9x + 14
faltersainse [42]

Answer:

x - intercepts are (-7,0) and (-2,0)

A is the correct option.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have been given the equation of the parabola y=x^2+9x+14

For x- intercept, y = 0

0=x^2+9x+14

We can split the middle term as 9x = 7x +2x

x^2+7x+2x+14=0

Now take GCF

x(x+7)+2(x+7)=0

Factored out the common term

(x+7)(x+2)=0

Apply the zero product property

(x+7)=0,(x+2)=0

Solve for x

x=-7,-2

Hence, x - intercepts are (-7,0) and (-2,0)

A is the correct option.
