The answer is B) increase, increase

You can work this out mathematically with the equation PV = nRT.
Because volume is halved, the pressure will double, which increases rate of reactions as well.

Answer:The correct answer is option B.

Explanation:

At constant temperature and moles of gas, the pressure exerted by the ideal gas is inversely proportional to the volume occupied by the gas that is Boyle's law.

Pressure\propto \frac{1}{Volume}

So, when George transfers an ideal gas from container A to container B with half the volume of container A. With decrease in volume of the container the pressure exerted by an ideal gas will increase as per as Boyle's Law.

And in with increase in pressure the rate of collisions among the particles and with the walls of container will also increase.

If the temperature and moles of gas stay constant during transfer, the rate of collisions will increase and the pressure will increase.

A train travels 120 km in 2 hours and 30 minutes. What is its average speed?
ivann1987 [24]

Answer:

13.33 or 13 1/3m/s (meters per second)

Explanation:

In physics, we use the basic units of meters and seconds. So first convert (km) into meters (m) and also hours and minutes into seconds (s). We end up with 120000m and 9000s. Then divide the 120000m by the 9000s and you end up with 13.33 or 13 1/3 m/s.

You throw a rock horizontally out of a 7th story window. You time that it takes 3.7 seconds to hit the ground, and measure that
Nady [450]
Since we are only looking at the vertical height, we can use the free fall equation to find the height:
h = 0.5*g*t^2, where h is height in m, g is acceleration due to gravity (9.81 m/s^2), and t is time in seconds
h = 0.5*(9.81 m/s^2)*(3.7 s)^2
h = 67.15 m
Therefore, the 7th floor window is 67.15 m above ground level.

Because of the curvature of the earth, the maximum distance D that you can see from the top of a tall building of height h is es
mojhsa [17]

Answer:

D = 9.9 10⁶ mi

Explanation:

In the exercise they give the expression for maximum viewing distance

       D = 2 r h + h²

Ask for this distance for a height of 1100 feet

Let's calculate

        D = 2 3960 1100 + 1100²

        D = 8.712 10⁶ + 1.21 10⁶

        D = 9.92 10⁶ mi

         D = 9.9 10⁶ mi
