Joseph McCarthy was able to build off of the Hiss conviction by suggesting he had a list of other spies within the State Department. He created an investigation committee to expose the spies in the government. McCarthy was able to create hysteria around his supposed list. It was later found when McCarthy was investigated that he never had a list of spies.

With battles occurring at home and abroad, the long and complex conflict was damaging to both sides but Sparta, with financial help from </span>Persia<span>, finally won the conflict by destroying the Athenian fleet at Aegospotami in 405 BCE.</span>
The group that attempted to gain independence for India through violent means was the Sepoys. They were basically the Indian soldiers that were serving under the British or under European orders. The Sepoy Mutiny is very famous historical evidence regarding this matter.
