However Spanish settlers were very brutal towards Native people for example the Encomienda system, was a reward system for Spanish settlers that promised the harsh labor of the Native people. In this time they were considered “savages” for their way of life so Spaniards thought they can convert them to a different lifestyle without any say from them.
