Each of my daughters has as many brothers as sisters, but each of my sons has three times as many sisters as brothers. How many
children do I have?
1 answer:
Lets assume number of daughters = x
and number of sons = y
each daughter has as many sisters as brothers so,
y = x - 1
x - y = 1 ----------- (1)
each son has 3 times as many sisters as brothers so,
x =3(y - 1)
x = 3y - 3
x - 3y = -3 ---------------(2)
Subtract (2) from (1),
-y + 3y = 1 - (-3)
2y = 4
y = 4/2 = 2
From (1),
x - y = 1
x - 2 = 1
x = 1 + 2 = 3
Daughters = x = 3
Sons = y = 2
Total children = 2 + 3 = 5

Steps to answering this question :

- Determine the perimeter of the ceiling
- Divide the perimeter of the ceiling by the length of the rolls of crepe paper
Perimeter of square = 4l
Where l = length of a side
4 x 15 feet = 60 feet
60/20 = 3

9 hours im not really good at this but i hope i did my best ^.^ :)
5t-3u+3-2t-u-1
First collect u's,
-4u+5t-2t+3-1
Then collect t's
-4u+3t+3-1
Then collect constants,
-4u+3t+2
And you are done :)
Hope this helps.
