Charles X sparked a revolution in July 1830 by his own unpopular actions. When elections held in June of that year did not produce an outcome that favored his policies, Charles and his ministers suspended the constitution. They also decided to dismiss parliament and stifle the press.

However newspaper editors defied Charles' directives and went on ahead to print his ordinances and calling for a revolt. Angry mobs began to form in the streets of Paris  and engage in a revolt to protest against the King's actions.
